Welcome to our Latest Update

As of 19th July 2021

Here you will find all up to date information on what you can expect when visiting The White Lion in Aldeburgh. Should you have any unanswered questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch, either by phone or using the contact form at the bottom of this page and our friendly Folk will assist you further.

As you will be aware, the hospitality sector, like many others, has had to change and adapt a lot over the past year or so. With the most recent Government advice, we want to ensure that you feel safe, secure and informed about what changes we will be making to return to normal, and that your safety and peace of mind have not been forgotten.

On behalf of myself and Matthew South, Hotel Manager of The White Lion Hotel, we’d like to keep you, our loyal guests updated.

Face Coverings

The use of face coverings is no longer a requirement by law and so all guests are welcome to venture the corridors, restaurant, lounge, hotel and surrounding areas free of one. However, should you wish to continue wearing a face covering, you are of course most welcome to do so, this also applies to our Folk. We ask that all guests respect the decision of others.

Social Distancing

You may notice social distancing becoming less evident with a gradual reduction in Sea Spice, in the bar and around our hotel. This will include rearranging our restaurant seating to allow more guests to dine in busy periods. We do ask that all guests continue to respect the personal space of other guests and our Folk.

Table Service

We are pleased to be returning to usual service in terms of ordering drinks at the bar. With the elimination of table service only, we are now able to allow guests to order, drink and mill by the bar once more. The bar is now open 4pm - 11pm daily.

Dining with us?

Sea Spice dinner service commences at 5.30pm and runs through until 9.30pm. Please note that Sea Spice is closed to both restaurant bookings and takeaway service on Tuesdays. If you are staying the night with us over a Tuesday and would like to dine, our sister hotel, The Brudenell, is just a short walk up the beach from us, and we highly recommend dining in their restaurant, the Seafood & Grill. The Seafood & Grill’s current menu can be found here. Whilst both restaurants welcome walk-ins, please be aware that they are both very busy, so booking in advance is advised.

Sea Spice's takeaway service is available Wednesday to Monday from 5.30pm. This is collection only with a 10% saving on your order to be had, please call us on 01728 451800 to order your cosy night in.

Welcoming larger groups…

We are pleased to welcome larger groups into our hotel and restaurant, with those special occasions, events and functions that you may have had to rearrange, or you have planned for a future date, we would love to be your host. You can get in touch by using the Contact Form below.

Track and Trace

The NHS Track and Trace QR code will still be available for all guests to scan should you wish to, but again, this will no longer be a requirement.

Staying with us?

You are welcome to check in anytime from 3pm on your arrival date, our check out time is 10.30am on your day of departure. Our housekeeping Folk are returning to usual service with regards to mid stay cleans. If you would prefer not to have your room cleaned throughout your stay with us, please be sure to inform our Reception Folk upon arrival. If this is the case, we always have an array of fresh, fluffy towels and toiletries to hand at reception, should you need these replenishing, please don’t hesitate to ask. Our Reception Folk will ask if you require assistance with your luggage when you arrive, and they will happily arrange this for you.

In the public areas of the hotel, you’ll notice our housekeeping Folk are always on hand to ensure all popular touch-points are regularly sanitised. You can also find sanitiser stations around the hotel. Your safety and our high standards of cleanliness remain of utmost importance to us.

We are continuing on with our cooked to order breakfast service, alongside room service should you wish to dine in the comfort of your bedroom. Our Reception Folk will talk this through with you when you check-in.

A final note…

I do hope this information has put your mind at ease and given you some reassurance as to the steps we are taking to make sure your return is a safe one. Leaving you to enjoy the excitement of booking a trip away to the Suffolk coast.

We have been extremely busy taking bedroom reservations, which does mean that if you haven’t already booked, we recommend doing so sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment! You can check our current rates via our website, or you can call our Folk on 01728 452720.

On behalf of The White Lion Folk,

Kindest Regards

David Scott
