Raising money for charity, Peter and Pille took to the freezing waters along with over 50 others on Boxing Day raising over £2000.

“It was very refreshing!” Comments Peter. “It’s a great charity event for the town and everyone was in high spirits despite the cold weather and icy water.”

Things to see in Aldeburgh

A joint exhibition of sea-inspired Paintings, Sculpture and Photography By Derek Nice & Adam Nice

Aldeburgh Cinema Gallery
14th - 20th September 2012
10am - 5pm

Adam Nice the White Lion Hotel’s designer – responsible for all things ‘White’ – and works very closely with Peter Osborne, the General Manager on the creative direction and promotional material for the hotel each season.

He has teamed up with his father, Derek Nice, an internationally revered maritime artist (and former director and art director of many feature films, television and radio programmes) to put on a joint exhibition of their work at The Cinema Gallery in Aldeburgh.

Derek has always loved the sea – and this is evident in his varied works (and it seems to have rubbed off on his son, Adam, who cannot stop taking pictures of the magnificent sunrises and sunsets on Aldeburgh beach).

Derek oftens works on private commissions for a wide range of international clients – who often ask him to creative a unique mural, sculpture or painting for their homes.

Aldeburgh honours local soldiers

Freedom of the Town Parade in Aldeburgh
Here at The White Lion, we were lucky enough to have front row seats when the 3 Regiment Army Air Corps came to Aldeburgh on Saturday 23rd June.

The regiment (who are based in Wattisham) had been awarded Freedom of the Town in recognition of the close affiliation between Aldeburgh and the soldiers. The day was also a chance for the regiment to be presented with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medals and campaign medals earned from their deployment to Afghanistan last year.

We were fortunate to have the regiment’s parade pass right outside the hotel, with The Band of The Parachute Regiment leading them. The procession started at Fort Green car park, continued along the High Street and finished at Moot Hall.

An Apache flypast was an impressive end to a day dedicated to celebrating the relationship between Aldeburgh and the 3 Regiment Army Air Corps.
