Vive la France! 3rd Bastille celebrations
Posted by: Peter Osborne
Bastille Day takes place on the same date every year on 14th July marking the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789.
Following the success of the past two year’s Bastille Night events at the White Lion Hotel, we really got into the spirit of the celebrations this year for our third annual event, with all our staff dressed in traditional French attire (beret and stripy shirts).
The turnout for this event was a huge success with over 140 people dressing up for the occasion and raising just over £300 for Aldeburgh United Charities.
Entertainment included our very own accordion player playing French classics including the French national anthem "La Marseillaise".
A menu of timeless French classics such as Moules, Boeuf Bourguignon and Coq au Vin were sampled during the course of the evening with an extra special dessert on offer from our not so French head chef Jason Shaw making Classic Crêpes Suzette to order in our live cooking theatre.
Or cheese from the fromage trolley!
Hope to see you next year for Bastille numéro quatre.
