Seasonal Winter Warmers
Posted by: White Lion
It can be fairly chilly here on the Suffolk coast so we had a little think and came up with a few seasonal cooking ideas to help keep you warm and combat the sub-zero temperatures seemingly on the way...
As we all know, cooking with seasonal produce is the best way to go about making sure you are eating fresh and for the best value. Our top tip over the winter months? Root vegetables. One of the best ways to cook root veg is by making soup or adding healthy sized chunks to casserole dishes. Pot-based meals like soups and casseroles are low-cost alternatives that are quick, easy, and are sure to keep you warm! Carrots, parsnips, swede and potatoes are all very much in season right now but if you fancy trying something a little different, give celeriac a try. It tastes fantastic.
Broccoli, sprouts and cabbage are also well in season and provide healthy, fresh and tasty accompaniments to your home cooking. Again, if you fancy trying something a little different, give kale a shot. It is bursting with nutrients and can make a tasty addition to your soups or pot-based winter warming casseroles!
We have plenty of winter warmers here at the White Lion so if you are wondering where to eat in Aldeburgh, make sure you pay our restaurant a visit where you can eat great brasserie food for budget prices. Keep an eye out for the return of our ‘Famous 5
’ – five signature daily dishes available for just £8 throughout the week.
