We had a quick word with our pastry chef, Anmar, to find out about next week’s Ladies Lunch!
With February’s edition of our Ladies Lunch just around the corner, Anmar has kindly given us a little insight into what she has lined up on the 26th:
“February’s class will look at food trends and what’s fashionable at the moment. The colour for 2014, as confirmed by Pantone, is Radiant Orchid which is a bright, vibrant purple. Fashion, make-up and design are all being influenced by this colour this year and many celebrities are even eating healthy, purple foods. In next week’s class I will be working with purple foods and ingredients including beetroot and purple kale”.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Anmar and her work, she is a well-known cake maker not just at our Aldeburgh hotel and restaurant but also in the local area. If you have a spare few minutes check out her catering company, CRUMB - there are some pretty amazing cakes on display! And if you wanted to know Anmar’s top baking tip, here it is:
“Always use electronic scales! Baking is all about ingredients working scientifically together, any miscalculations with measurements can have a big impact on what you are making.”
